POLICE are renewing an appeal for witnesses to an incident in Colchester which left a jogger with serious head injuries.
The jogger, who is in his 40s, is thought to have been hurt after a black Mercedes flatbed lorry shed its load on the Colne Causeway bridge, hitting a traffic light, at about 8.05am on June 21.
The traffic light landed on a jogger, leaving him in a "critical, but stable" condition at Queen’s Hospital, Romford.
Sgt Iain Masheder, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said officers still need to establish what has happened to two blue G-clamps which may have been in the road.
He said: «Whoever has picked up these G-clamps is not in any trouble, however we would like to get hold of the clamps as soon as possible. The clamps may prove key to our investigation."
The driver of the lorry, a 51-year-old, from Woodbridge, Suffolk, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, but has been released on police bail until August 15.
Witness, or who knows where the G-clamps may be, is asked to call the unit on 0300 333 4444 or email collisionappeal@essex.pnn.police.uk.
