Police called to self-harm incident

POLICE investigating a fatal collision in Braintree are appealling for a key witness to come forward.
Gladys Smith, 89, was killed on June 24 when she was struck by a car on Coggeshall Road.
An Astra collided with a Mercedes van near the juction with Cressing Road around 6pm and officers investigating the crash would like to speak to the driver who was driving in front of the vehicles involved. The person was in a light or silver, old Ford type car and is thought to be a man with ginger hair.
Police continue to investigate the crash and the driver of the Astra car, an 88-year-old local man, has been interviewed. The 36-year-old van driver, who was arrested on suspicion of death by careless driving, has been bailed until October.
