The Breckenridge Restaurant Association supports the alternative 2 of the EIS proposed project for the development of peak 6. While opponents have made well-reasoned arguments against the background of alternative 2, the Association believes that the controlled growth of the ski and then our community is best served by Alternative 2.

Faced with a forecast growth of skiers, 2 suitable alternative capacity for conducting Breckenridge ski resort in the permitted area. In addition, Alternative 1 and Alternative 3 are equal to adequately address this growth and represent a step backward for our community, locality and guests of the city.

The quality ski and summer operations of the ski resort of Breckenridge, the historic ambiance of the town of Breckenridge and attractive recreational qualities of Summit County have been well attended by nearly 50 years of decisions governed by the standards specified by the EPA, the Forest Service, Summit County and the town of Breckenridge.

Interestingly, this round of planning includes a memorandum of understanding or memorandum of understanding has been signed by the City, Ski area, Breckenridge and Summit County. The memorandum, prepared by a local task force created in January 2008, is unique in the draft EIS is now being considered and reflects the desire by the Forest Service to consider the local community, social and economic needs in the context EIS.
