Duvenbeck unit completes first, €4 mln phase of logistics center near Daimler plant

Duvenbeck IMMO Logisztikai, the Hungarian unit of German logistics company Duvenbeck, on Thursday inaugurated the first 5,000-square-meter section of a new logistics center built at a cost of €4 million to serve the nearby Daimler plant under construction in the city of Kecskemét.

Duvenbeck plans to by the end of this year employ 70 workers at the facility, whose area will expand to 9,200-square-meters following completion of the second and third phases of the investment.

Daimler plans to manufacture its initial pre-production test car at the company’s new €800 million plant in Kecskemét this autumn and begin market production in the first quarter of 2012. Daimler expects to eventually employ 2,500 workers at the plant, where it will make next-generation models of its A- and B-class compact cars.

Duvenbeck employs 2,300 workers at 28 locations in eight European countries – Germany, Austria, Spain, Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
