City seeks to end the environmental impact statement from the airport.

After meeting with representatives of the Federal Aviation Administration, the council will consider authorizing the Mayor to sign a letter to the FAA to suspend the EIA for the proposed new airport in Mesquite.

City representatives met with Barry Stubbs, an environmental consultant in the city, and the FAA to discuss the progress of the environmental impact statement for the airport, which would be located near Interstate 15, exit 109.

Representatives of the FAA said the city's Bureau of Land Management and the State Historic Preservation Office disagreed with the FAA on the impact that the new airport would have on the Old Spanish Trail. The FAA believes that there will be no impact, but the BLM office and state historic preservation create aircraft noise may affect the enjoyment of people walking down the path.

In order to resolve the conflict, the FAA is ready to send the EIA to the Attorney General's office in Washington DC to make a determination of the dispute. The main concern is that since the city can not provide a current effect or the need for the airport and not have funds in place for the design or construction, the FAA is concerned about the determination not to be for the airport.

The FAA informed the city to write a letter to the FAA calls for suspension of the progress of the EIS until the city is ready to proceed with the project.

Council will also consider the award of a tender for the construction of the flat bottom of the Improvement Project of the upper unit. Engineer's Estimate $ 6,125,436 for the supply base. There are also three alternates for electrical work, ranging from $ 939,605 to $ 30,633. The Regional Transportation Commission reimburse the city $ 6,846,873 through three interlocal agreements.

Council will consider a resolution adopting an interlocal agreement between the City and Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to place communications equipment on the Scenic City communications tower tank and the Virgin Valley Water District the construction site communications.

Council will hear the second reading and a public hearing on Bill No. 445, amending a development agreement between the city and Falcon Ridge Community Association, Falcon Ridge amending design standards manual, by reviewing the permitted uses and conditional on the CR-2 zone in general business. One issue that came to the Law No. 445 is a consideration for locating a dry cleaning plant in the Village Shopping center in Calais Falcon Ridge PUD. A public hearing is associated with the element.

Council also will consider:

• abandonment of a portion of the City Transportation Easement washing and dedicate the newly aligned transport easement, generally located along City between Blvd Mesquite Wash. and the first South San

• introduction of a bill, an ordinance creating changes in the city code, including the position of city manager and appointed officials of the city.

The meeting begins at 5 pm at City Hall.
