ALGIERS, Aug. 27 (Xinhua – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria denies reports that a convoy had entered Libya Algeria, Amar Belani Ministry spokesman told state news agency APS, on Saturday.
"In recent months, Algeria is the target of an avalanche of false information, the fallacy that has been repeatedly demonstrated," said APS Belani, adding that "it is the same for the information disseminated by the agency MENA on vehicles Mercedes who allegedly crossed the border between Algeria and Libya. "
"This story has no basis in fact and we denied it categorically," Belani said.
Egypt's official MENA news agency reported earlier Saturday that a total of six vehicles, which could be carrying Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, and other key figures in the ousted government, had crossed the border with Libya and Algeria on Friday.
Libya, military sources quoted by MENA said that six armored Mercedes bulletproof cars entered the Algerian border town of Ghadames in Libya without any persecution of the rebels were well equipped vehicles.
This was the second time the Foreign Ministry denied the reports of the media in recent days. On Friday, Algeria denied reports that the North African state are recognized rebel National Transitional Council of Libya when the latter made in the fight against al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM.
"That information is totally groundless" and does not reflect the official position of Algeria on recent developments in Libya, APS Belani quoted as saying.
The spokesman said Friday that Algeria has been, since the crisis began in Libya, adopted "strict neutrality" by refusing to intervene in the internal affairs of its neighbor, and respecting the people's decision on the basis of sovereignty country.
