Kwikset was one of the first lock manufacturers to introduce re-key

homeowners to protect their homes and families in the face of lost,
stolen or unreturned keys. In addition, the patented BumpGuard side
locking bar technology replaces a traditional pin tumbler design to
protect against lock bumping. SmartKey deadbolt products are rated ANSI
Grade 1, the highest level of residential security. In January of 2010,
three years after Kwikset introduced SmartKey, Schlage introduced
SecureKey.

Stainless steel locking bar side also replaces the traditional pin and glass design that is particularly vulnerable to the increasingly popular lock bumping attacks. In addition, the cylinder uses two steel balls inserted in the front face of the cylinder to provide improved puncture resistance. The delivery of exceptional strength and protection, SmartKey locks have passed the most stringent level lock picking, UL 437, par. 11.6 and provide ANSI / BHMA Grade 1 certified security. The safety level 1 is the highest level of security to residential test available in the industry.
