BLM: public comment sought on draft mine EIS

ELKO, Nev. (AP – The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a draft environmental impact statement for a proposed underground gold and silver mine in northern Nevada.

Rodeo Creek Gold’s proposed Hollister Underground Mine Project is located about 50 miles northwest of Elko and 65 miles northeast of Winnemucca in Elko County.

The project would include about 222 acres on both private and public land and is located at the old Ivanhoe or Hollister open-pit mine site.

At full production the company estimates it would employee 200 people.

BLM is accepting public comment on the draft EIS through July 16 at its field office in Tuscarora.
