The best just got even better

TOYOTA Motor Philippines (TMP maintained its momentum in the local automotive market when it introduced its fifth all-new vehicle offering for the year— the Camry—at the Sofitel Hotel Sunset Pavilion on April 26.

Named after the Japanese word for "Crown," the Camry was inspired by Toyota's "New ERA sedan" key development concept, which endows the 2012 model with a delicate balance of elegance and performance with its lavish interiors and features as well as a 3. 5-liter V6, 24-valve Dual VVT-i engine that cranks out 204kW of power at 6,200 rpm and 346 Nm of torque at 4,700 rpm, and is mated to a six-speed sequential automatic transmission.

Giving the vehicle a smart stance are four 215/55R 17-inch alloy wheels mounted over 16-inch disc brakes in the front and 15-inch discs in the rear that ensure positive deceleration when activated by the brake pedal.

The Camry's engine can be started and stopped via a push-button feature on the dashboard.A Smart Key is also provided to lock and unlock the doors and a button to start the engine—all one needs is to have the vehicle key nearby. The steering wheel is made of leather with wood grain material, and incorporates automatic tilt and telescopic system.The steering wheel also incorporates audio, air-condition and multi-information display (MID buttons. Information such as odometer, trip meter, outside temperature, average speed, cruising range, average fuel consumption and elapsed time are also displayed. It also features a touchscreen audio display for better functionality and style. The Camry is equipped with a three-zone temperature control system which can be regulated for the driver, front passenger and rear seats separately. To further enhance the air-conditioning system, Toyota also introduces its Nano-E technology, an air-cleaning system that fills the cabin with refreshing air characterized by an ultimately balanced ratio of positive and negative ions. This plasma cluster purifies the air inside the car by preventing absorption of mold, fungus and dust.Nano-e are negative ions surrounded by water molecules. Compared to normal ions, they last longer and provide a cleaner air flow inside the vehicle.

The 2012 Camry passes the highest standards for global quality with its active and passive safety features to cope with different driving situations.The Camry features ABS and Brake Assist System, coupled with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC technology. The VSC detects tire slippage and automatically helps stabilize the car when driving on slippery roads. Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS enhances nighttime visibility by automatically regulating the headlamp beam pattern in response to steering input and driving conditions. Driver and passenger SRS airbags are offered across all variants, with the addition of side and curtain-shield airbags for the top-of-the-line 3.5Q model. Exterior developments include HID, combined with the automatic-dynamic headlamp leveling device and auto light control system.This auto-leveling device fixes the illumination axis in accordance with the forward and backward tilt of the car while in motion. Electric retractable outer mirrors are hydrophilic, incorporated with wide view and reverse link features. Upon shifting into reverse, the on-screen reverse camera would show the rear area of the vehicle to facilitate safer backing-up.

The all-new Camry is offered in three variants; all with white pearl color options:3.5Q at P2.082 million, 3.5Q White Pearl at P2. 097 million, 2.5V at P1.681 million, 2.5V white pearl at P1.696 million, 2.5G at P1.451 million and 2.5G white pearl at P1.466 million. Color choices are white pearl, silver metallic, beige metallic, gray metallic, medium silver metallic, dark steel mica and attitude black.
